Number of files to be uloaded

My experience is that with files of a size of more than 10 MB not more than 2 files should be uploaded as batch. Even then the final step looks not to finish "Bezig met het opslaan van de gegevens en publiceren...". The files have been uploaded as can be seen in the categories where they should come. My experience with files of about 10 MB is that maximal 3 will be uploaded, the rest not. With very small files there is no problem (I tried it with 8 files as a test).Wouter (talk) 20:34, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Upload Wisard is failing

Files are failing to re-upload during the Describe Upload Wizard phase. An api error is occurring. Kwcoffee1 23:49, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi Kwcoffee1! The Upload Wizard is pretty much in a perpetual state of brokenness. It isn't broken for everyone all the time, but I don't recall a time since it was introduced that we went more than a few days without people reporting enigmatic problems with indefinitely spinning wheels and unhelpful error messages, and nobody responsible for its introduction seems to want to take responsibility for responding to feedback or making sure it works properly. Have you tried Commons:Upload? It tends to be much more reliable. LX (talk, contribs) 18:46, 16 August 2014 (UTC)

The Upload fix

The api needs to return a bad file or title name content string warning Kwcoffee1 01:47, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

Upload from Flickr

How do I use the Upload Wizard to upload my own jpeg images directly from Flickr? Bengt Nyman (talk) 07:07, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Hej Bengt! As noted on Commons:Flickr files#Tools, only administrators and license reviewers use the Upload Wizard to upload files directly from Flickr without saving them to their own computer first, but that page lists a few other options. License reviewers are not allowed to review their own files, but uploading from your own account with automatic review through the Upload Wizard shouldn't be a problem, and I think you could easily become a license reviewer if you asked. Problems !!

The Upload Wizard hangs up, again and again. Is there a limit on file size ?? Bengt Nyman Bengt Nyman (talk) 13:52, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Hej Bengt! You can find all information about file size limits at Commons:Maximum file size. That said, large files should not cause the Upload Wizard to hang and not produce a helpful error message, but the Upload Wizard is pretty much in a perpetual state of brokenness. It isn't broken for everyone all the time, but I don't recall a time since it was introduced that we went more than a few days without people reporting enigmatic problems with indefinitely spinning wheels and unhelpful error messages, and nobody responsible for its introduction seems to want to take responsibility for responding to feedback or making sure it works properly. api-error unknown

I strongly dislike getting this error and losing the "submission information" I typed. I need to get the information back so it can be entered quickly when I have to resubmit it. When I get api-error unknown I am unable to do anything about it, so I have to go back, reupload, and do the work all over again WhisperToMe (talk) 16:27, 17 August 2014 (UTC)

Internal error: bad token

I have uploaded a bunch of files with this tool recently, all successful, however now I am consistently getting Internal error: bad token when uploading. Let me know when you fix it and I'll try again. Pratyeka (talk) 06:24, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

Found the problem. Apparently the login cookie had died. You should probably validate this before an upload to save people time, and/or display a more appropriate error! If you want to get more sophisticated, it may be possible to check this header when the upload is beginning and to cancel out of the HTTP POST immediately, thereby saving everyone time and bandwidth. Failed upload

I have been trying to upload photos I have taken; after uploading two I was unable to upload another; the wizard reported: "There was an error uploading the file to stash" and "None of the uploads were successful" - with no further information on what went wrong, and no way to return to the previous page of the wizard. Cannot upload multiple files at once

I'm using Firefox on Windows 8 and recently I can't upload multiple files at once. The progress bar doesn't show up and the upload process lasts indefinitely. Does anyone encounter the same problem? Quenhitran (talk) 10:05, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

Uppladdningsproblem

See my comment above: For experienced users like you, who would like to upload larger amounts of images, stand-alone upload tools like Commons:VicuñaUploader can be an excellent alternative to the hassle of using this so-called Wizard. --El Grafo (talk) 11:18, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

Uploading from Flickr

Gosh I really miss the toolserver! It's so difficult to figure out how to upload from Flickr now... I miss Bryan's tool so much. Why on earth was it decommissioned? https://tools.wmflabs.org/flickr/byebye.html/upload Tsyp9 (talk) 22:23, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

I've found Magnus's tool to be a good replacement. The user interface is a little intimidating at first, but once you get over that, it works quite well. (For me, anyway.) But yeah, I did find Bryan's "byebye" message to be rather bizarre/misleading, since it implies that Flickr support has been integrated into MediaWiki, but as near as I can tell, it hasn't been. He ought to be recommending Magnus's tool, since that seems to be the only game in town right now. --Ppelleti (talk) 07:33, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
Uploading directly from Flickr without downloading a file first is possible through the UploadWizard, but limited to Admins and license reviewers at the moment. Probably doesn't help you much, but might explain Bryan's message. --El Grafo (talk) 08:27, 24 August 2014 (UTC)

Make the program to put information about licensing into the infobox in the field "| permission =". The result is a clean and organized page. Paulo RS Menezes (talk) 19:03, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

Does not accept many license tags

Hi.

Upload wizard does not accept many license tags. The one that I am having to wrestle with today is {{Free screenshot|Apache}}.

Codename Lisa (talk) 10:55, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

That's bugzilla:65229. Unless you want to wait a few more months for a developer to add the 19 characters to this line required to fix it, you can always use Commons:Upload in the meantime. LX (talk, contribs) 19:21, 16 August 2014 (UTC)

P.S. Feedback form put space before my sig., causing it to be displayed in monospace font. Seriously? Codename Lisa (talk) 10:58, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

Another specific problem with custom licenses: UW does not appear to accept license template redirects. I tried uploading a bunch of fourteen files as {{CC-BY-SA-3.0}} and it gave the "does not contain a license" error; I had to convert each to {{Cc-by-sa-3.0}}. An unrelated but similarly annoying problem I found afterwards is that the wizard freezes for over ten seconds after each license tag change, resulting in it taking about four minutes to bypass all redirects to license tags. Upload Wizard Problem on Internet Explorer 8

I seems to have a problem uploading any file using the Upload Wizard. I get this icon running:

I am running Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit with Internet Explorer 8 64-bit browser. It works fine with Windows 7 64-bit with Internet Explorer 9 64-bit browser. Has they abandoned the code that support the Internet Explorer 8 browser? What gives? Rjluna2 (talk) 14:38, 2 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi Rjluna2! LX (talk, contribs) 18:44, 16 August 2014 (UTC)

WOW! That's my problem, I really start hate to upploading files! Your idea was good LX but I can never upload one singel picture, must add like 10 to get it done. Can't they fix the problem? And I have test internet explorer (WORST), Firefox.. Problem is everywhere :/ Danielåhskarlsson (talk) 07:37, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

@Danielåhskarlsson: Have you tried one of the stand-alone upload tools? They can be a huge support for experienced users like you. For example, the beloved Commons:VicuñaUploader has pretty much all the features the UploadWizard tries to offer and works on virtually any operating system (provided you have installed a Java Runtime Environment). If you are using Lightroom, there's also Commons:LrMediaWiki, but that seems to be in a rather early stage of development at the moment. Personally, I can't imagine going back to the browser based upload tools (be it the Wizard or the old upload forms) even for simple single file uploads. --El Grafo (talk) 11:07, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks El Grafo I will try it! :) Danielåhskarlsson (talk) 15:01, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

One thing I do noticed that the Java plugin for Internet Explorer 8 is not being used in any of the Wiki site. Even the latest version of the Java plugin is updated, but is no longer using. Last year the Wiki site was actively using the Java plugin with the Internet Explorer 8, But not anymore. Could this contributed the problem? Rjluna2 (talk) 00:13, 28 August 2014 (UTC)

I have the same problem (with both Chrome and Firefox on OS X "Mavericks"), but only with video (both WebM and ogg). I've never had that problem uploading photos (JPEGs). Could it be a size-related problem, since Ineuw is uploading djvu files, which are also large? --Ppelleti (talk) 16:04, 30 August 2014 (UTC)

When I choose "Open in a new window" at the feedback link (Czech version: Názor na průvodce), it tries to open a page with external URL "Commons:Upload Wizard feedback" instead to deal with it as with internal link and to open the feedback page. ŠJů (talk) 23:38, 31 August 2014 (UTC)
