The 24 metres (79 ft) hight lighthouse was constructed between 1861 and 1864 and and was a prime example of international agreement, in this case between the British, French, Spanish, and American governments that supported the lighthouse’s construction, and also agreed its neutrality in case of war. The bus monument of the Syrian-German artist Manaf Halbouni was shown for the first time before the Frauenkirche, which was destroyed in World War II and rebuilt after German Reunification, and later in front of the Brandenburg Gate. It is reminiscent of three buses that were set up in Aleppo during the Syrian civil war and whose photo became known worldwide in 2015. Choose a new media file |
