Jewish groups of the world[edit]

I love the concept, but there seems to be a lack of a clear source regarding the distinction between Mizrahi and Sephardi in the Middle Eastern Jewish communities. Let's keep that aside for now, since that's a minor problem compared to what I'm about to mention: 1. Indian Jews are "Later Mizrahi"?!?! what is that??? NO!! there are four distinct groups of Jews in India: The Cochin Jews who date back to the first century AD, the Bene Israel in Maharashtra (who also have a history dating back millennia), the Paradesi Jews (descendants of Sephardic Immigrants from Spain) and the Bnei Menashe in Northeast India. Please don't simplify our history to just "later Mizrahi", that's just plain offensive and ignorant

2. Why are so many countries which did not traditionally have a substantial Jewish population (and who still don't) coloured in the map? I'm talking about Nigeria, Ghana, and all the central asian countries except Uzbekistan.

3. How dare you classify the Beta Israel of Ethiopia as "later Mizrahi"?!?! please read up on their history I don't have the time to explain it here

Overall, very bad map. I'll be removing its use from every wiki its used in and replacing it with till you fix these glaring issues Nerdypanda4125 (talk) 16:04, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry if you got offended by the map. It is accurate, but I don't care enough to contest it. If you would like to classify Teimanim (who converted) and Beta Israel (who never converted, but rather adopted judaism) as simply "special jewish group" that is fine with me. I do not have enough of an interest to contest your claim, but I do urge you to update my map instead, since it has more specific and accurate information that your map does not include, but includes mistakes like India. For your information, the west African countries included do have and had historical "Jewish" groups that have adopted Judaism without a conversion with a beit din. And for your information I did not classify ethiopian Jews as later mizrahi, I classified them as "Adopted Judaism without conversion" PaddyMacConghaile (talk) 00:59, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
