What was the issue above this section? Never mind. The niche can be seen on satellite at Triq il-Gdida and Triq Ninu Cremona. If you think I should not upload pics that are not on the NICPMI please let me know. I saw it and had no idea what is on the inventory and then I still uploaded it. @Continentaleurope: You can upload images of anything, regardless if they are listed on NICPMI or not (it's good to have as many pics as possible). There are several inconsistencies in the inventory (eg. the Hompesch Arch is listed but the De Rohan Arch isn't, the Birkirkara Tower is listed but the Tal-Wejter Tower isn't etc), and there are a number of errors (eg. the given location for the niche and relief on the Mater Boni Consilii School in Paola are incorrect). I think the image of the niche is still useful on Commons, but it shouldn't be included in the List of monuments article on Wikipedia. Niches in Mtarfa[edit]

I'm currently in the process of categorizing the images you uploaded within Category:Cultural heritage monuments in Malta. Since there isn't any detailed information about the Mtarfa NICPMI listings, I'm having some problems with finding the exact location of the following niches. Do you know the names of the streets where they are located please?

San Anton Palace[edit]

@Xwejnusgozo:
Secret Garden; one of the private San Anton Palace presidential gardens

I am not sure but maybe apart from the articles I am working on maybe I should also write one about the private gardens of San Anton or at least the Present's Secret Garden which is now open to the public on occasions and can be used for private function by practically anyone. What do you think? On the left is one of my pics taken there, looks pretty good with the Baroque staircase, long balcony, unrecognised people at the background, good colours, very natural and no edits. As photos I have uploaded a lot but as literature? There is something about the recent activities there. I also have a number of other pics of the place which I still have to upload.

The Tower and battery as seen from the hotel's roof

I will try to find time to upload pics of the Jerma Palace Hotel. I read that you wanted some pics of it but so far I only uploaded the ones of the Saint Thomas Tower. I have some 300 pics, so we have an overwhelmingly number of pics of it at this current state (dilapidated and vandalised and graffitti art). Will upload them at once so maybe you will just focus on which you wish to use. Use at least one or two, the article needs expansion. We need to discuss some sub categories for them.

@Continentaleurope: If you have enough information about the President's Secret Garden, go ahead and write the article. There should also be an article on the San Anton Gardens which are open to the public. I would be happy to help on both articles if I have time, but currently I'm a bit busy (in fact I'm not working on any articles for the time being). That pic is beautiful - it would be useful as the main pic for the article.
Regarding Jerma, any pics are welcome since currently there are very few pics of the hotel on Commons. I have no idea when it will be demolished, but I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of years pass before anything is done. Xwejnusgozo (talk) 20:17, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Xwejnusgozo: I asked about the demolishing because you said to want pics about its demolishing. I will upload pics about work being done on the citadel. Some are already uploaded. San Anton Garden needs a number of articles. The "garden" can be said to be more than just one garden. Some fountains such as the large one may require its own article. An article for the list of monument is required, another to list the number of trees planted - the garden has a number of different trees planted on purpose to be diverse from every part of the world, some by distintive people. Other article may be needed but yes in particular the public gardens - from private grandmaster garden to their opening in the British period and present.Continentaleurope (talk) 20:35, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Unidentified locations[edit]

I am currently categorizing some of the images which you uploaded earlier this year. In most cases, the location is easy to determine, however, there are a few where I can't work out where the image was taken. Do you know the names of the streets where the following photos were taken so that they can be categorized appropriately?

All of my photos taken with camera have no coordinates, even if most of them are better than those taken with tablet. My tablet has the GPRS.

I can remember where I took most of them but it may take me some time to seek them on the map.

The Attard photos where taken in the proximity of each other.

The last "unknown location" photos took outside Mosta next to a chapel. The Mosta farmhouse is not far off but not the same area.

I know this is not helpful but will find time to help you locate them.

I continued categorizing some images today. There are many unidentified locations in Mosta, perhaps you can identify where some of the images were taken. In particular:

  • File:House with relief1.jpg - is this building in Triq il-Mitħna l-Qadima? No but close, more close to Triq l-Independenza, probably "Triq San" BUT unsure.

More unidentified locations - Naxxar[edit]

A few more photos which I can't find out where exactly they were taken:

  • Where were the Naxxar antiques series of photos taken? ......It is a building used for multiple purposes, probably a town hall or church property. Located at the side back of the church...in the street after....has a parking area in front.

@Continentaleurope: Thanks! I never noticed that entrance to the GM's palace. I saw that all photos had coordinates, but I was not exactly sure which streets were being shown since the coorinates are not always 100% accurate, and I don't know the Baviera area well. The photos taken by my camera are more clear but they wont come with coordinates (i.e. Some of Attard photos). I am trying to complete some lists of monuments but I could not find a niche in Balzan. Must be part of a property in a closed parapet wall. See also, Birkirkara, Gudja, Lija, Paola, Zurrieq, etc. Lately I have uploaded quite a lot. Thank you, I categorized the above images accordingly. Regarding File:April 2017 in Gharghur 07.jpg, it seems to be located near the point where Triq Għaxqet l-Għajn meets Triq l-Isqof Gargallo and Triq Mons. Luigi Catania. For now, I categorized it as Triq Għaxqet l-Għajn.
Thanks for uploading all these photos, they're very useful for illustrating the monuments lists (and other Wikipedia articles of course). If you are referring to this niche of St. Francis of Paola in Balzan, the listing states that it "forms part of a private residence". After looking at the area from Google Maps, it seems to be located on a farmhouse/building located near the field which is used for archery. There don't seem to be any public roads/paths which lead to the building, so it seems to be inaccessible. I see that the Birkirkara, Gudja and Paola lists are now fully illustrated, while the Lija and Żurrieq lists are almost complete. I recently added some of the photos you uploaded to the Qormi list.
Meanwhile, here are a few more photos from Għargħur whose location I was unable to identify:

I added the categories accordingly, all Għargħur pics are now categorized. I don't think the NICPMI pdfs for Rabat and Mtarfa were ever published. It's not a problem for Mtarfa where there's only a handful of listings, but Rabat contains one of the longest lists of niches etc. Unfortunately we cannot identify many of the listings since there are many of the same name (eg. there are 13 niches of St. Joseph and 17 niches of St. Paul). It's a shame that NICPMI has not been updated since 2014 and that monuments in localities such as Mosta, Għargħur, St. Paul's Bay etc are not listed. --Xwejnusgozo (talk) 23:49, 27 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I just finished the Wikipedia article Ġonna tal-Kmand, although it still needs more work. I was surprised by the amount of gardens that still exist. Many gardens don't have any photos (Balzan, Għargħur, Għaxaq, Lija, Qrendi, Siġġiewi, Żebbuġ plus almost all the sites of the destroyed gardens), so if you have any photos they will be useful for the article. --Xwejnusgozo (talk) 21:31, 8 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have some photo of Zejtun and of Qormi. Most already uploaded, some taken without knowledge (Attard, Mosta), the rest I need to find them on my files. I am of the opinion that too much photos may not be ideal, we should limit them and insert best photos. It would be ideal to have them all on the right when it creates a chaos with subtitles. The article can be expanded but after reading it I can say it gives a good background. Mqabba structure[edit]

This is one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe, located close to the old hospital in Mqabba. It is known as Pharmacy de La Roche because it was built by a knight of that name. This appeared on social media once and clarification is needed. Will check some books when I have time.Continentaleurope (talk) 21:17, 28 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I found the original post on Facebook dated 2015, which stated that:

This old crumbling building is the oldest pharmacy still standing in Europe. It dates back to the sixteenth century and was built by the Knight La Roche, ancestor of the founders of the dermatological company La Roche Posay. It's a pity that this building is abandoned and not turned into a Museum of the Medical Professions.

It would be very interesting if this is true, although I have some serious doubts. In the 16th century, why would anyone open a pharmacy in a small, remote village such as Mqabba? Note that the hospital was built much later in the 18th century, when the islands were free from corsair raids etc.
I think that it's more likely to be some form of agricultural building such as a store, although the form of the building is very unusual for Malta. I looked through my old copy of Bliet u Rħula Maltin but it doesn't mention anything about the building (or the hospital for that matter).

@Xwejnusgozo: Thanks for tagging me and for your response. Perhaps there will be some interest in the structure by various people of different backgrounds. It could be easily a dovecote (note the continuous shelves and its height), a hunting lodge, memorial, resting place; also could have been built at the same time of the hospital (i.e. not 16th C.) as a structure to aid the locals without having much contact with them...or built before.. to combat a possible disease. A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted.
