English: Supplementary Movie 3 Deformation twinning during crack propagation in single crystal aragonite. Deformation twinning occurs ahead of crack tip as a major plastic deformation induced by the crack tip stress fields. The deformation twins form and propagate along the and planes with width of a few nm.
