The theme for the 2021 contest is Health and Wellness. The 2021 competition Algeria starts on 15th March 2021 and closes on 30 th of April 2021

Wiki loves Africa in Algeria[edit]

The theme for Wiki Loves Africa Algeria 2021 is to visually interrogate all those factors that contribute to health and wellness. What is the difference between health and wellness? Health is seen as the state of physical, mental and social well-being in which disease and infirmity are absent, whereas wellness is the state of living a healthy lifestyle through enhanced well-being.

IMPORTANT: Please note that while the threat of contracting COVID-19 is still present globally, the Wiki Loves Africa organisers encourages people who wish to take photographs to exercise EXTREME CAUTION. Do not attend in-person events or take photographs anywhere without a mask. We would prefer that you use images from your archive or as you go about your daily practices. Please do not place yourself (or any person with you) at risk or in danger. #staysafe.

Wiki Loves Africa Algeria is an opportunity for us; To organise an events for all they have a photos of algeria around the theme of each year. it permit to increase the media content Creative commons of Algeria.

Algeria is an African country in first, she is the biggest country in Africa, algerian culture is a crossbreeding of berber, african, arabic, othoman and european etc...

especially that it's able to found this in the food, costumes, music and dance, transport.

This contest is naturally destined for Algeria.

The 6th edition of Wiki Loves Africa in Algeria which is an annual continental photo contest held on the African continent to increase the number of visuals and audio visuals of African origin for use on various Wikimedia projects.

Health[edit]

For Health, we would like photographers to consider the traditional and modern medicines to the individuals that ensure our health: doctors, nurses, caregivers, pharmacists, paramedics, researchers, cleaners, etc.. Health can encompass environmental health, physical health, social health, emotional health, intellectual health, and spiritual health, as well as sexual and reproductive health education.

Individual actors: Doctors, nurses, caregivers, pharmacists, paramedics, researchers, cleaners, patients, midwifery etc..
Structures: Public health systems, hospitals, clinics, medical centres, institutions, schools and universities, research laboratories, mobile units, ambulances, etc.
Medications and supplements: drugs, vitamins, minerals, herbs, etc.
Materials : masks, respirators, hospital beds, needles,
Essential practices: Personal protective equipment
Healthy environments: i.e. natural spaces, living conditions, etc.
Role of science
Traditional health systems: Traditional medicine, traditional healers from Africa, tools, materials, and practices
Alternative health systems: Homeopaths, naturopaths, etc.

Why we want to participate for this year[edit]

With simple search on wikipedia english or french even arabic we discover so small quantity of media in commons and almost 10 articles about Health and Wellness

articles are existent, but without audio or video, we plan to collect through this contest a best media quality and write some articles.

in the moment this media are uploaded at the wikimedia.commons servers this is our goal. after that; we have time to plan workshop to create a seeds of articles and why not best articles.

What Algerian prizes are up for grabs?[edit]

There are several prizes to be won, both nationally and internationally. For national prices, please see which events take place locally in your country. In Algeria, there are 3 main prizes for Wiki Loves Africa. vouchers will be distributed to winners when announcing results.

The National prizes are:

The photos[edit]

The basic rules[edit]

Acceptable photos

All the photos proposed for the contest must have been taken by the participant himself.
Photos must either have been uploaded personally by the participant or uploaded during collective upload sessions held by local teams;
The upload will take place only between february 2021 and april 30 2021;
The proposed picture must be under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 license CC-BY-SA 4.0 or any equivalent free license or be in the public domain;
To be eligible, the photos must be classified in the Wiki Loves Africa 2021 category. If the upload is done using the official tool (upload wizard), this identification will be made automatically;
The proposed picture are taken for the purpose of being used for educational, encyclopedic and / or cultural purposes;
In order to be contacted, the participant will have entered their e-mail address in their preferences on the Wikimedia Commons website;

Ineligible photos

Non-photographic work, such as computer generated drawings or images
Photographs already present on Commons (re-upload is not allowed)
Since the images will be hosted on Wikimedia Commons, they must respect the Commons scope.
Photos not respecting the rules of Wikimedia Commons will be disqualified and removed from the site without prior notice.
Photos with trademarks, watermarks or signatures will not be accepted.

Selection Criteria

The jury will select the photos based on the following criteria (in no particular order):

Technical quality
Originality
Useful and global potential value of images for Wikimedia projects (educational, encyclopedic and / or cultural needs)
