Rename?[edit]

How about renaming this to Category:The New Student's Reference Work - individual images? I think the standard is for article and category names to spell out abbriviations such (e.g. United States Army not US Army). --Pmsyyz 07:45, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Here is the template for it if no one objects:

{{category redirect|The New Student's Reference Work - individual images}}

Awhile ago I created the category Category:Images extracted from the NSRW; I'm transferring these there, but that doesn't get rid of the abbreviation problem. --Spangineeren ws (háblame) 18:20, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

NOTE: I moved this discussion from the now defunct Category talk:NSRW, but it still applies—it may make sense to spell out NSRW rather than leave the abbreviation. --Spangineeren ws (háblame) 01:21, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is better to spell the abbreviation out. A good category structure maight be Category:The New Student's Reference Work with subcategories Category:Pages of The New Student's Reference Work for the scanned pages, and Category:Images from The New Student's Reference Work for the extracted images. /Ö 08:21, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'd prefer something like Category:Extracted images from The New Student's Reference Work simply because "Images" could be seen as including page scans as well. Another possibility would be to just leave the original page scans in the parent category, rather than creating a separate subcategory for them. --Spangineeren ws (háblame) 15:30, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I suggested to not use "extracted images" because the name is a little bit shorter, and to have a name similar to other subcategories in Category:Images from encyclopedias. But the name is not really important for me.
My idea for using a special subcategory for the scanned pages was that then users who come to the NSRW category, for example from Category:Encyclopedias, will see two subcategories and Image:Nsrw1914.jpg and [[Image:Nsrw1914 2.jpg. And they will not have to load 200 images of scanned pages, unless they want to see them and click on the page scans subcategory. /Ö 20:48, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Category structure modified[edit]

Categories are now established similar to what was discussed above:

The templates have been modified and category redirects are in place on the old categories (Category:LA2-NSRW and Category:Images extracted from the NSRW). Feel free to point out any problems. --Spangineeren ws (háblame) 03:11, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
