Hi! I saw you declined my request to delete the images of the supposed "Ethiopian crosses"

Could you maybe merge them with the Syriac cross or rename them to "West Syriac" or "Assyrian" cross? They aren't Ethiopian anyways. MotorolaBoy (talk) 21:40, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't know how I could convince you. Maybe if I brought a primary source about the style of a west Syriac cross? And I neither know where nor how to. I just dislike it being named that as it's historically inaccurate and that symbol historically represented the Assyrian (Oriental Orthodox Christian) rite west of the Euphrates, whereas something resembling File:Eastern Syriac Cross.svg was used to the east. An actual Ethiopian cross would be File:Krest Lalibeli.png, which is used on the EN Wikipedia EOTC page. MotorolaBoy (talk) 10:20, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It can be too old for copyright protection, but for that either anonymous work or author's death more than 70 years ago must be proven. Of course you can make an undeletion request. This 2020 discussion was closed as keep with a rationale from you that CC-BY-SA license is valid, because it has OTRS license.

I can't access the OTRS file - can I double-check with you that the original artist @strayrogue gave approval for GiraffeWorld to make a "close redraw" COM:DERIV drawing based on the original work, in that OTRS statement? Or was the OTRS just GiraffeWorld saying that they were releasing their own drawing under that licence?

(I'm surprised that the original artist didn't just release their own drawing as CC-BY, if they were happy for someone to basically trace it and take the author credit, so I'm wondering if something got missed here.) Belbury (talk) 13:58, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request for lifting unblock conditions

Hello,

Over a year ago (on April 12, 2023), you forbade me to ping anyone or mention Wiktionary, as you wrote on my talkpage. Now that one year has passed, can you please lift those two conditions? You said I could make that request after one year, which has already passed.

And by the way, when it comes to your English, you really should note that:

  • 1. The following question of mine
    Why exactly is "soliciting proxy edits on [my] behalf" (for any project for which I'm blocked) considered disruptive? See, the reason I did that in the past was to try to ensure that I wouldn't feel the temptation to evade a block. So if block evasion is disruptive, why would soliciting proxy edits on another WMF wiki be equally disruptive?? I do not plan to do that again, but I'd love to know why something done to prevent one's potential block-evasion is "disruption".
    should have been answered with (at the very least) the reply
    Asking others to edit a wiki, where you are blocked, is prohibited as abusing multiple accounts.
  • 2. You wrote here that "Ya" – such word is not in my dictionary and even by context I do not understand, what it means.
    What dictionary were you even using? Seriously - why can you not use English Wiktionary to decipher that word?? Because that is what I would have done in your case.
  • 3. If you have reason to think or suspect that a Commons user is a monolingual English speaker, it might be best to have other people (I suggest fluent English speakers like Yann) to give them unblock-conditions in the future.

Lastly, two final questions:

  • 2. What, in your opinion, would be the best way for me to appeal my TPA being revoked on a different WMF project? In a related issue, I still do not know how I can possibly ask Surjection a question without him reverting it as "long-term cross-wiki pestering".

 Not done. I got error message "Can't import file because at least one of its file revisions is hidden." I am not administrator in en.wiki, so I cannot do anything about that. Hi, can you mark these images too for licence check.File:Nitish Kumar with newly appointed members of Lok Sabha in 2024.jpg & File:Samratchoudhary.jpg This is because the government of bihar website is dynamic in nature and they remove old images after few years when next election comes. Here like this, File:Umesh kushwaha, khiru Mahto, Nitish Kumar.jpeg, many images were reviewed earlier by other administrators.
