[edit]DescriptionGrooved Disc Skimmer Deployment (52211293441).jpg |
October 10, 2021 Galveston, Texas An oil spill removal organization (OSRO) deploys an advancing grooved disc skimmer (orange device in the center-right of the picture) during a training session. The white discs attract oil which is then scraped off in the skimmer and pumped onto the response vessel for temporary storage. BSEE Preparedness Analysts from the Oil Spill Preparedness Division (OSPD) regularly observe these types of activities to ensure compliance with regulations and to monitor the overall vigor of the oil spill preparedness and response community.
