DescriptionVillarroel1.jpg |
Sr Gral comandant." (ACA. Generalitat. Deliberacions i Dietaris G 126 B, 26 setembre 1713.).
English: Recreating drawning of Marshal-lieutenant Antoni Villarroel and Peláez, chief of the Catalan army during the campaing 1713-1714. He has been depicted with a three-cornered hat topped with red plume and with white makeup, typical features of high commanding officers at this age, with dress coat and with riding boots. Expecting the campaing of 1713-1714 Villarroel commissioned a suit with quality clothes: a dress coat of blue cloth material with deep red cuff, which them were the colour of his regiment. We know that because of the documents of Crown of Aragon Archive: "Pay to Francisco Sales the amount of 30 ll [= lliures] 7 s [= sous] 3 d [= diners] for buying two canas and two pams [= roughly 1 meter and 90 centimeters] of English blue cloth material at a cost of 1 lliura every cana, for one pam and a quarter of Dutch gransa at a price of 18 ll every cana, and for four pams of white loose cloth at 1 ll and 2 s every cana, all of that has been used for the full suit made for His Excellency General chief." (CAA. Generalitat. Deliberacions i Dietaris G 126 B, 26th september 1713).
