Medicare Part D Standard Benefit Structure in 2021

Summary[edit]

Description
English: This figure illustrates a simplified version of the Medicare Part D standard benefit in 2021. For beneficiaries without the low-income subsidy, the coverage gap is presented as it would apply to brand-name drugs. For generic drugs, cost sharing in the coverage gap is 25 percent and plans are responsible for 75 percent. The catastrophic dollar cut-offs shown ($10,048 and $9,314) were estimated by CMS. The actual level of spending required to enter the catastrophic phase will vary by beneficiary. The precise benefit structure for enrollees eligible for the low-income subsidy will vary depending on their income-level.
