2. picked up by Filipino fishermen, brought to the Philippines, then returned to same spot after typhoon season ends
3. Pacific Ocean crossing ends at Finsch Harbor, Papua New Guinea (PNG) after which Eruç walks and sea kayaks along the shores and then hikes the Kokoda Track across the island
4. departs Port Moresby, PNG to cross the Coral Sea by rowboat
5. arrives at mouth of Escape River, Australia near Turtle Head Island from where he later continues by sea kayak (after a side trip to Australian Customs and Quarantine on Thursday Island)
6. arrives Cooktown, Queensland to begin first bicycle segment
7. climbs Mount Kosciuszko and continues biking west
8. departs Carnarvon, Western Australia by rowboat to cross the Indian Ocean
9. arrives Mahajanga, Madagascar from where he later departs again by rowboat after cyclone season ends
10. arrives Angoche, Mozambique and continues by bicycle
11. climbs Mount Kilimanjaro and continues biking west
12. departs Lüderitz, Namibia by rowboat to cross the Atlantic Ocean
13. arrives Güiria, Venezuela and continues by bicycle
14. departs Carúpano, Venezuela in rowboat to cross the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico
15. final landfall at Cameron, Louisiana, United States, and continuation by bicycle back to Bodega Bay, California

At the time this version of the CIA political world map was published in late 2011, Eruç was rowing northwest across the Atlantic Ocean near the middle of the map.
