For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Konstrukteur mit Risszeichnung Zentralbild Schmiljun Zi.Wi. 6.6.1953 In der volkseigenen Maschinenfabrik und Eisengiesserei Dresau. UBz: Kollege Franz Friedrich ist 1. Konstrukteur und Gruppenleiter. Er ist an der Neuentwicklung von Großgetriebe für das Walzwerk maßgeblich beteiligt und wurde daher am 1.5.1953 als Aktivist ausgezeichnet. Nach seinen Vorschlägen wurden die Getriebe für Absetzer und Eimerkettenbagger konstruiert. Damit schuf er die Voraussetzung für eine höhere Braunkohlenförderung. Nach seinen Konstruktionen gebaute Maschinen stellen einen wert von 1 100 000.-DM dar. Die technische Zeichnerin Ursula Matzik verpflichtete sich zu Ehren des 60. Geburtstages von Walter Ulbricht, sich soweit fachlich zu bilden, daß sie als Teilkonstrukteurin eingesetzt werden kann.
