Description
Français : Église située sur la 1re avenue à Limoilou

« C’est le dimanche 4 octobre 1942 que cette église est inaugurée à l’occasion d’une messe spéciale. Sa construction avait débuté en juin 1918. C’est l’architecte Joseph-Siméon Bergeron qui en avait dessiné les plans. Il ne s’agissait alors que du soubassement. C’est là que les paroissiens célébraient le culte. Ce n’est qu’en décembre 1925 que l’évêque donne la permission d’ériger la partie haute du temple. Les architectes Bergeron, Lemay et Dumais livrent le nouveau bâtiment en juillet 1927. Mais l’intérieur reste à compléter. Il faudra attendre 1941-1942 pour que l’architecte Bergeron, du précédent trio, complète l’aménagement intérieur.

Le style de cette église s’inspire de plusieurs églises françaises, dont celle de Saint-Étienne de Tours (1869-1874) et celle de Notre-Dame-de-la-Croix à Paris (1863-1880). Tous ces bâtiments ont en commun la présence d’un clocher-porche et des murs latéraux à deux étages. On y reconnaît plusieurs éléments du style roman. » – Société historique de Québec
